The man behind Essential Hemp, Paul Benhaim, has a long history with hemp snack bars: He’s the one who single-handedly started the hemp industry in the UK by creating the 9Bar back in 1993. The bar went on to become the bestselling health snack bar in the European market, and Paul went down under to found Essential Hemp’s parent company, Hemp Foods Australia, in 1999. Following the legalisation of hemp foods in 2017, he’s been working with Australian farmers like Harry Youngman to establish a sustainable domestic hemp industry that will encompass not just food but other uses including skincare, biofuel and bioplastics.
