The idea for Bob’s Red Mill was sowed in the 1960s when Charlee; Bob’s wife, made a fresh loaf with whole wheat and decided that she would feed her family wholesome nutritious food.
Once the seed of that dream was sown, things started falling in place. In 1968, Bob happened to visit the public library and stumbled upon “John Goffe’s Mill”, the story of a man who revived his family’s ancestral mill to grind wheat into flour. After that luckily incident, Bob and Charlee started working on realizing their dream and finally the factory was set up in 1978. In the early days of the factory, Charlee and Bob personally took on many roles in the company and today, that tradition is kept alive with the company being 100% employee owned.
