Family-run Herbon make hypoallergenic, biodegradable household cleaning and personal care products at their own warehouse factory in Melbourne. The company was founded in 1982 (as Puren Australia) by industrial chemist Henry Kirschner, whose research led him to avoid not only petroleum derivatives and other hazardous chemicals but also potentially irritating natural ingredients like lanolin and beeswax. Mr Kirschner’s formulas now constitute the lowest-allergen consumer range produced in Australia, and have been evaluated by medical professionals as posing a negligible risk of allergic reaction even in sensitive individuals.
