Fraser McNaul’s devotion to the world’s tiniest grain began during an around the world backpacking trip in his 20s. Intrigued by crops that aren’t endemic to Australia he discovered Teff, an Ethiopian staple that just so happens to favour conditions similar to where his family farm is located in the Murray Darling Basin. This fortuitous realisation resulted in Australia’s first dedicated teff farm, and they’ve been spreading the word about this nutritious grain ever since.
Teff Tribe is a family-owned Australian business, with Fraser McNaul and his family the first commercial growers of teff in Australia with Outback Harvest. As interest in the super-seed grew, Fraser and his family expanded their range, acquiring Teff Tribe in 2019. The family are dedicated to remaining a paddock to plate business, sustainably growing the grain on their farm in the Murray-Darling Basin.
