Behind the brand
Back in 2004 organic skincare was often seen as less effective, but Elizabeth Barbalich could envision a way in which science and nature could work together in harmony. This was the foundation of Antipodes, a green beauty brand designed to stand proudly alongside premium skincare. Her range was to be a collection of high-performing products crafted with New Zealand’s pure native botanicals and backed by advanced scientific evidence and innovation.
Elizabeth’s background was always in science. She majored in biology, earnt her MBA and then went to work with a leading American surgical firm specialising in laparoscopic surgery. After training in New York she went on to represent New Zealand and Australia for eight years assisting surgeons with pioneering technology. These experiences contributed to the innovation, precision, and creative principles that continue to shape Antipodes today.
